Electronic Flight Displays
The general aviation cockpit got a major face lift a few years ago, and it will never again look the same. The glass cockpits installed on commercial jetliners are now standard equipment on all newly-produced training and personal aircraft. These aren't simply bells and whistles to dazzle youthful pilots, but represent the latest design and safety mechanisms available today.
In keeping with our commitment to educate according to the latest General Aviation standards, we specialize in training for all Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA), including the "Glass Cockpit" systems provided by Garmin, Avidyne, and Chelton, or any aircraft equipped with GPS navigation systems, multi-function displays, and autopilots. If you own a TAA, we can help you get the most out of the new technology. We are familiar with most Honeywell Bendix/King, Garmin (including Apollo and UPS), Avidyne, and Chelton avionics and EFIS systems.

Advanced GPS Systems
GPS WAAS instrument approaches provide both lateral and vertical guidance (glideslope) to near precision approach minimums, however it is paramount that the pilot understand the "buttonology" of the WAAS receivers in order to safely use them in IMC. These navigation systems provide the future of instrument approaches now; give us a call to learn how to safely use your new technology.
Specialized Instrument Training
Instrument flying is challenging for the private pilot, especially for those who don't fly regularly. TopFlight Aero provides specialized instrument training to bring your skills back up to standards ensure that you can use your instrument rating to get the most out of your aircraft and the national ATC system.
Mountain Flying
TopFlight Aero provides several options for mountain flying training. Choose between a formal 3-day weekend clinic or an individual program tailored to your specific needs. Each option includes both ground and flight training on the mountain flying environment, mountain weather trends, density altitude, preflight planning and preparation, takeoff and departure techniques, approach and landing considerations, and general mountain flying principles. Give us a call to schedule your mountain flying experience.
Tailwheel and Backcounty Instruction
TopFlight Aero has significant experience and training in conventional gear (tail-wheel) aircraft. It can be challenging to transition from tricycle-gear aircraft to conventional gear, so let us help ease the way for you.
We also do a significant amount of "backcountry" flying in the canyons of southwestern Colorado and southeastern Utah, in both conventional and tricycle gear aircraft. Let us open the world of backcountry flying to you.

Traditional Instruction
While capable, Mr. Fay rarely does traditional instruction for Sport, Private, or Commercial Pilot Certificates due to the demand of his time elsewhere.
